Every child is unique

For over 10 years, I’ve observed traditional teaching methods that often lack a solid foundation for swimming success and, most importantly, water safety. Many children remain at a beginner level due to limited comfort and understanding of the aquatic environment—skills often assumed to be in place once they join group lessons as they get older. I’ve also observed many children held back in their swimming progress due to fears that are often misunderstood, minimized, or worse, invalidated. Without the right support, these blocks can hinder any advancement and lead to a lasting apprehension of water. Every child is unique, building water confidence should be tailored to match their individual pace and personal relation with the water. Children need to be understood and heard. And who is better suited for that than the parents?

Parents are the key

I created the school "The ABC of Luca™" to guide parents in supporting their children. Nothing is more powerful than the parental bond in supporting a child through key stages of life. I often compare it to a child’s first steps: no one would give up the joy of sharing such a precious moment with a stranger. In my view, Montessori pedagogy, for exemple, along with active learning approaches in general, represents the most effective methods for learning, and it’s these that I encourage parents to explore. In my classes, the child is also placed at the center of their learning experience. My approach is based on a deep understanding of the child, their challenges, their fears, and most importantly, their unique qualities. Using a holistic, child-centered method, I integrate tailored learning techniques. In essence, I help parents build and/or restore their child’s self-confidence, transforming the aquatic experience into a positive and enriching journey.
